More Writing Updates
So, I’m working on some short fiction for a couple of other places which have asked for something. I’m also working on completing the first three chapters of a new novel.
I also have an article coming out on Atmosphere in the upcoming writing reference book, MANY GENRES ONE CRAFT, edited by Heidi Ruby Miller and Mike Arnzen. Details to follow.
I will be making an upcoming appearance on The Funky Werepig on November 5th. This will be my first appearance on The Funky Werepig, and I’m very much looking forward to it. Everyone I know says it’s a great time had by all. So stay tuned and call in. We will eat, drink, be merry, crack jokes, talk shop, and have an awesome time. 🙂
Writing Updates
I have recently picked up a gig writing video game reviews (mostly of survival horror games). First up is RED DEAD REDEMPTION. Details to follow.
It looks like the release of my novel, THRALL (featuring two bonus stories, “Kins,” and “The Days After the World Went Away,” will be out from Thunderstorm’s Black Voltage Series in early 2011. This will be a signed, limited edition printing with beautiful cover/spine art by Vincent Chong. Look for ordering details in January or February of next year.
I will also have a short story out in the premier issue of Literary Mayhem later on this month (I believe it goes up on October 24th). Check it out if you’re looking for something creepy to read during the Halloween season.
And if you’re in a non-fictiony mood, check out THRILLERS: 100 MUST READS,which features my essay on James Patterson’s ALONG CAME A SPIDER. This book is an awesome addition to any library of thriller fiction. But as Lavar Burton used to say on Reading Rainbow, don’t just take my word for it:
“This is an essential reference book.” — Library Journal, Starred Review, May 15, 2010
“A most interesting collection of essays on the genre and one that thriller readers will want to come back to time and again. These are seminal insights from masters of the craft of writing. Highly recommended.” — Midwest Book Review, July 2010
“Not only is this book fun to peruse, it is intelligently written and researched. Make space on your reference shelf.” — The Florida Times Union, July 4, 2010
“The title of this indispensable volume, grand as it is, only hints at the wonders therein. There is a true embarrassment of riches here, a term that applies not only to the quality of the books listed but also to the commentary provided for each and every one of them.” — Book Reporter, July 9, 2010
“Enjoyable in itself, the book offers 100 possible answers to that perennial summertime conundrum: What book shall I pack for the beach?” — The Washington Post, July 15, 2010
“Thriller fans, rejoice!” — San Diego Union Tribune, July 25, 2010
Lastly, there seems to be some interest in considering some of my stuff for movie adaptation. I’ll keep you posted on developments.
